Launching AI-Driven Site-Specific Weed Management with Tomato Planting in Badajoz, Extremadura

We are pleased to announce the start of the tomato planting season in Badajoz, Extremadura. Then, to pave the way for the next sampling campaign for site-specific weed management, employing advanced artificial intelligence technologies.

This project will involve sampling various weeds as part of an effort to implement deep learning techniques for their classification and detection. The objective is to use AI to accurately identify and manage weed populations, thereby improving the health and yield of tomato crops while minimizing the environmental impact through reduced chemical herbicide use. Therefore, this project will involve collecting samples of various weeds to implement deep learning techniques for their classification and detection. The goal is to precisely identify weed populations, enabling targeted mechanical weeding and variable herbicide spraying. This approach aims to improve the health and yield of tomato crops while significantly reducing the environmental impact associated with traditional herbicide use.
